Since its founding in 2006, eDrugSearch.com has relied on Idea Grove to boost Web traffic, as well as brand authority and awareness, for its online business. We redesigned the Website to increase traffic and optimize conversion rates, and have guided the company’s SEO and SEM strategies. We’ve also earned the San Antonio-based startup local and national television coverage, establishing it as an authoritative resource within its industry.
The Situation
Buying drugs over the Internet can be scary and confusing for consumers, with thousands of rogue pharmacies making it difficult to make safe choices. eDrugSearch.com, a search engine and social network for prescription-drug consumers, was created to solve this problem by including only licensed, accredited pharmacies in its database. The challenge for eDrugSearch.com was to cut through the clutter and negative perceptions of online pharmacy sites — and to establish itself as a trusted authority and resource.
The Solution
In order to set eDrugSearch.com apart from other online pharmacy sites, we provided a level of transparency and openness that none of its competitors offered. This began with the design of the company’s website and carried through into its other marketing, social media and public relations efforts. We put eDrugSearch.com founder Cary Byrd front and center as the company’s voice, building authority among healthcare bloggers with a Byrd-penned blog and establishing the influential Healthcare 100, a directory of healthcare blogs. We also successfully pitched the eDrugSearch.com story to print and broadcast outlets nationwide.
The Results
Beginning with coverage in San Antonio’s daily newspaper, business journal and local CBS affiliate, we worked to build eDrugSearch.com’s reputation as a Web-based business that consumers could trust. Soon word spread beyond the company’s home city; newspaper editorials endorsed the brand by name; Byrd was hailed as an “e-health innovator” and interviewed by top pharmaceutical industry journalists; and the company has been invited to appear on national TV programs, such as “The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet.” Byrd was also invited to Consumer Reports headquarters to participate in an exclusive healthcare summit. Combined with an integrated marketing strategy that included a conversion-oriented website design and successful SEO and SEM strategies, Idea Grove’s efforts separated eDrugSearch.com from the pack in a crowded space and put it on the path to commercial success.
