Will S–tsburgh Forgive Sienna?

Rhymes with Pittsburgh, if you’re wondering, and it’s apparently Sienna Miller’s nickname for the city as she shoots the flick “The Mysteries of Pittsburgh” there. She used the term in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

As you can imagine, the people of Pittsburgh were not amused. The mayor even had a few words for the starlet.

Sienna’s damage-control response:

1. “Apologize” but blame the press. “I sincerely apologize and hope people realize that conversations can be easily manipulated in print.”

2. Counter charges of New York elitism by claiming kinship to the city. Miller pointed out that her father was from Meadville, 85 miles north of Pittsburgh, and would be coming to town to show her around.

3. Blame your shooting schedule. Miller said that because the film has an evening shooting schedule, she has had little chance to experience the city’s nightlife.

Whatever. Here’s what Sienna should have said:

“I apologize to the city of Pittsburgh. I made some remarks that I shouldn’t have. The people of the city have been kind to me during this shoot, and I responded by acting like a brat. I’m sorry.”

So simple, isn’t it?
