    1. toddand says:

Good luck. I just added you to my favorites.

    2. Eric Eggertson says:

I try to make fun of you as often as possible.

Wait, I reread your post, and see that you said we “make it fun for you.”

Never mind. I’ll go harass someone else now…

    3. Jeremy says:

Wow. You do realize how sad this is, don’t you?

    4. SB says:

Human tragedies are sad. Silly pandering for Technorati links is actually kind of fun.

Do you always have to be so self-righteous, Jeremy? It gets old, bud.

    5. Kami Huyse, APR says:

Whoa, for a minute I thought you brought back your blogroll. Nope. Glad to be just a little cog in the wheel that takes you to glory. Whatever works for you man ;-)

    6. SB says:

OK — I deserved THAT one.

    7. Ike says:

Now that I’m not blogging anymore, can I transfer my favoriting peeps to Scott?

    8. SB says:

      Sounds perfectly reasonable to me…

      How’s the new gig, Ike?

    9. Ike says:

I’m in south MS for the great media rush on the Katrina anniversary… and packed and ready to roll whereever as Ernesto approaches “undocumented alien” status.

    10. Jeremy says:

As old as pandering for links, Scott?

    11. SB says:

      Keep safe, Ike.

    12. SB says:

      Thanks, Todd.

    13. SB says:

      Older, Jeremy.

    14. Leo Bottary says:

A little shameless pandering never hurt anybody. Good luck getting the extra favorites.

    15. SB says:

      Grazie, Leo.

    16. Leo Bottary says:

Since we both might agree that shameless can be good, I was wondering if you’ve added all the people you listed to your Technorati favorites.

    17. PRrag says:

      ahem
      I’m a PR blogger too ;-)
      Hope you’ll favorite me back!

    18. SB says:

OK — now this IS starting to get ugly…

    19. Michael says:

But, if everyone lists you as a favorite and has a lot of favorites, doesn’t it diminish the definition of favourites? (Tossed in a “u” for our Britsh and Canadian buddies.)

      Mike

    20. SB says:

      Mike,

Do you have an Advil I can borrow?

OK, here’s my reasoning — not that I did more than about five seconds of reasoning before I wrote the post:

      1. I don’t write this blog so I can read my own writing. If I did, I would lock it up in a cute little diary with a key. I write this blog because I want people to read it.

      2. When people read the blog and enjoy it, it makes me feel all happy inside. That’s why I like seeing that people have visited the site, or subscribed to the feed, or commented on a post, or added me to their Favorites.

      3. While I like being added to people’s Favorites, I don’t want anyone to add Media Orchard to their Favorites if it isn’t actually one of their Favorites. That would defeat the purpose.

      4. Do I like my blog to be highly ranked? Sure. It’s fun, and it provides an opportunity to expose the blog to more people. I think most who say otherwise are hypocrites — or at least are kidding themselves.

    21. Susan Getgood says:

Scott, you know I love your blog, read it all the time, enjoy your point of view immensely. And I don’t care if you ask for people to select you as a Technorati fave. Whatever floats your boat, makes you happy.

So, don’t take it personally — I just don’t do the Technorati thing. Full stop. Given my opinion of popularity lists in general, that shouldn’t surprise anyone :-)

    22. Make the logo bigger says:

I’m just glad to be mentioned in a list that doesn’t include “Top 10″ and “F.B.I.”
