Electronic Frontier Foundation Goes Viral

Based in San Francisco, the non-profit Electronic Frontier Foundation aims to be “the first line of defense when our freedoms in the networked world come under attack.” It combines the expertise of lawyers, policy analysts, activists, and technologists.

The EFF has produced a viral video — already viewed on YouTube about 40,000 times since its posting earlier this week — in which it attempts to mobilize Netizens to stop the Broadcast Flag, Audio Flag and Analog Hole laws, which the EFF claims will give corporations too much power over our TV, radio and computer use.

Whether you agree or disagree with the EFF’s policy arguments, the organization is doing a good job of reaching out. Check out the video.

I don't know -- but I would guess that if the numbers are off, it's because of the technology for tracking rather than intentional overstatement. YouTube would have far more to lose than to gain from that.

Scott:Do you believe those You Tube numbers? I'm always reading about 40,000 watched this video or 600,000 watched that video and I'm a tad skeptical.
