Come Play With Us

Greetings everyone. While Scott's away, I thought we could play.

A little fun while he's gone, ok? After all, it's not like Bill and I are getting paid to do this... although Scott did promise to bring us back a small trinket from his secret location if we didn't tank his rankings too badly -- and you all know how much he cares about those.

Anyway, since Scott was very secretive about his reason for going and his whereabouts, why don't we have a Where's Scott contest? No, not like this, but more like this.

The person(s) who comes closest to guessing both where Scott is and why he's gone, will get something wonderful. Not sure what exactly that is yet (you can always include a request with your guess), but I promise it's not a date. After all, we all know how badly that ended.

So come on, make your best guesses via comments. The people Scott mentioned on his 1-year Media Orchard anniversary post should definitely jump in. That means both Jeremy and Steve, for starters (you just know Scott is going to see who played and who didn't).

But there are hundreds of other readers out there who we want to hear from too. So don't be shy. Give us your best guess.

And Bill promised he will use his wonderful skills to create some sort of map to track everything.

UPDATE: More countries have been added to the list. Keep on guessing gang.

  • Scott is in Israel with a group from his church, taking an Easter holiday tour of the Holy Land.

  • He's doing deep background for his upcoming biography of Richard Hatch. I'm guessing he's on Palau, Indonesia, recreating the famous Survivor nude scene from the original Survivor.

    What worries me is how far inside Hatch's head Scott plans to go, and whether he's going to start pitting blogger against blogger in a bid to become the most popular blogger of them all.

    (Wait a minute, he's already started his nefarious plan. The man needs help.)

  • He's in NYC interviewing with Nick Denton for a full-time Gawker gig. He's also stopping in at The View while he's in town to interview for Meredith Viera's old gig. But I suspect this is just for leverage with Nick.

  • Will we get hints. They give hints on the Today show.... Or can we ask questions....

    For example, in his farewell missive, he used the pic of his dog in the car with him. Is this a hint -- did he travel by car to his final destination? And did the dog come with?

  • Golly, I dunno where Waldo... I mean Scott might be.

    I'd guess something techy and geeky, but he's also funny and a little weird, so I'm not sure where that combo would travel to. He was jealous of my trip to Australia, but I doubt he'd go there just to "me too".

    Let's see then- I'm guessing he's gone to Tibet to find his sprititual enlightenment, then off to the Holy City in Israel- to cover his bases- and then off to find a blogging conference somewhere so he can spread the influence of his Evil/ Enlightened Empire.

    But I could be WAAAYYY off there...

  • Actually, in viewing the map again, I realize the clue is very literal and is staring us in the face. Scott is obviously in northern Yukon, and will end up on Herschel Island, at the abandoned 19th century whaling station there.

    That was easy. What's the next mystery to solve?
