Media + Blogs > Media Alone

We read both blogs and mainstream media. Why? Because together they give us a more complete understanding of almost any subject than do blogs or MSM alone.

Obviously, this is especially true when the MSM covers blogs; they are tourists in the blogosphere, not residents. And they’re generally the kind of tourists who like to complain that the beach is too sandy and that there’s too much ice in their vodka tonic.

So we were glad, after reading the New York Times piece on Wal-Mart’s highly successful blog relations program — which questioned the ethics of bloggers — to then be able to read the thoughtful responses of Richard Edelman and Paul Holmes. Rather than merely being annoyed by the New York Times piece, we feel much more … balanced now. One with the universe, even.

Yes, we’re still in the lotus position.

You give the MSM too much credit. They are more likely to complain that there is too much sand in their vodka tonic, and not enough ice at the beach.

Scot, that opening paragraph made me laugh out loud! I nearly plotzed!
