MTLB: True, it probably will help the guy who made the commercial more than the gun store. But as an example of going viral, some of the supposed big players (and their overcharged clients) might learn a thing or two from it.

oh - my - God.

I love the tag 'Free rock with every purchase,' but the quote of the year has to be:

"A horror movie doesn't have to last two hours as long as you have a quality firearm."

Seems like this has to be a new category of viral - one that does nothing for the actual advertiser, at the same time chumming the debate waters of the parent industry.

Isn’t this the same thing as if convenience stores started running spots that showed both the pros and cons of drinking soda. Why do it?

I would have to guess that the vast majority of people seeing this viral will not be convinced anytime soon to go buy from Irish rock-throwers in Utah. (Seems also like gun ads should have mile-long disclaimers like pharma ads. “Body bag not included, etc.”)

Best case, the store owners become more popular in their little circle and paranoid homeowners go to Walmart for a 12-gauge and Home Depot for the rock.
