"Choose Life" Is Not the Same as "Pro-Life"

This one really bugs us:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A federal appeals court Friday allowed Tennessee to offer anti-abortion license plates bearing the message “Choose Life.”

The American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee previously won a ruling from a lower court that said the tag illegally promoted only one side of the abortion debate…

Abortion rights proponents complained the state does not offer those with other political views a similar way to express them. An attempt to create a “Choose Choice” tag failed in the Legislature in 2002.

“Choose Choice”?

Look, we don’t believe that Roe v. Wade should be overturned — period. However, we do believe that young women who face unwanted pregnancy should be encouraged to “choose life” — have their children and give them up for adoption rather than abort them. And with all the couples out there who would love to adopt a child, what’s wrong with favoring this decision?

To us, “Choose Life” is, by definition, a pro-choice statement — because it assumes that people should be allowed to make a choice.

Pro-choice advocates have made a critical strategic error by ceding this turf to pro-lifers in the rhetorical war. It hurts their cause.

Right. It’s Democrats who say they want abortion to be “legal, safe and RARE” after all.

Most Pro-abortion groups do not want to place any value judgment on the decision. So they are opposed to encouraging one way or the other. They are also opposed to saying “legal , safe and rare.”

Should Roe V. Wade be overturned?

    Do you support abortion right?

Should US Supreme Court reinstate Bush’s Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act that prevents certain late-term abortions?
