Media Orchard’s Popularity Plummets; Our Fans Suck

For some time now, we’ve been ranked third or fourth on PubSub’s PR List (30-day ranking), behind Micro Persuasion, Naked Conversations and — sometimes — Josh Hallett.

Today, we checked out PubSub and we were ranked 189th! Or, according to that cruel red arrow, “down 186.”

We’ll assume it’s a fluke. At least Technorati, Alexa, and The Truth Laid Bear still like us.

    Hi:

On the 30 day ranking you did drop alot. Interesting. I’ll have to take a look into why that happened.

I see you as being ranked number 18 (down 5 slots from yesterday), on the daily list which is pretty good.

    Ah the joy of lists.

I’ll only forgive your organization’s cruelty because of that cute little girl you have on your back.

  3. Kami Huyse, APR says:

I have had similar problems, dropping down, down, down. Oh wait, that was becuase my popularity actually has plummeted!

  4. Steven says:

Whew! She gets me off the hook again. Thanks baby!

  5. Eric E says:

Scott, it’s not your fans that are causing your popularity to plummet, it’s a wide-ranging conspiracy among your peers, who view you with a mix of jealousy and adoration.

Our self-loathing causes us to sabotage your PubSub rankings through nefarious means you can’t even begin to imagine.

I have other theories, but if I am not authorized to share them with you. Rest assured. You are not paranoid. People are out to get you!

  6. SB says:

I knew it! I bet Cohen’s baby is even involved…

  7. Josh Hallett says:

It seems like that list is all over the place. I remember one day I looked and I was #1 then a few days later I’m gone.

  8. SB says:

The PubSub rankings do leave a lot to be desired. From what I can tell, it’s currently the least useful of the ranking systems (and I believed this even when I was ranked #3!)

Not only Kami’s example, but also blogs that have not even been in operation in ages, and yet rank higher than some pretty popular (and current) blogs on this list. It’s very random.

Steven, I’m afraid you guys have some work — or at least some serious splainin’ — to do.
