Many many years ago when I was very very new in dogs, my then puppy bitch (now 10 year old senior citizen) crawled into my lap as I was driving to my Mum's. I got stopped, cited for "K9 in lap" but no fine :-) Now they travel in the way back, young dogs always in crates (safer for them).
