PRSA’s News Monitoring Service Should Include Blogs

Like PRSA members across the country, Media Orchard regularly receives “PR Issues and Trends” in our inbox. From the e-mail:
PR Issues and Trends is a daily news monitoring service brought to you by the PRSA, its Advocacy Committee and the Professional Resource Center. This service reports on industry trends, advocacy and other issues impacting the profession and the professional. PRSA’s Professional Resources staff reviews dozens of news, business, trade publications and Web sites, handpicking the most relevant stories of the day.
While useful, PR Issues and Trends has yet to incorporate blogs among its news sources. We think it’s time they did.
If you agree, e-mail your opinion to the PRSA’s Professional Resource Center at resources@prsa.org.

At least PRSA frequently discusses blogs in its monthly “Public Relations Tactics” print publication. It’s a baby-steps start…
Agreed. There’s much more intelligent PR commentary in blogs than in the MSM.
I agree and will send, I also think PRSA needs to start a blog, but when I offered that idea on a leadership call, I was pretty much shot down.
Well, we’re members, right? So I guess any one of us could start something called “PRSA Blog” and just start posting. We’d probably top the PRSA Web site in traffic within a few months.
Look, I think the PRSA is important, particularly with all the scandals the industry is facing at the moment. But every once in a while, we all need a friendly nudge…
I just got a response from PRSA about adding blogs to the daily e-mail. This was the answer:
We are certainly always looking for new resources to add into the PR Issues and Trends newsletter, and will be discussing adding blogs to the mix within the next month.
