Year-End List: The Media’s "Good, Bad and Ugly" in 2005

Jon Friedman, who writes a media column for MarketWatch, today issued his year-end list of industry highlights and lowlights.

Jon gave a thumbs up (with some reservations) to Maureen Dowd, New Yorker editor David Remnick, Katie Couric, Conde Nast, Time editor Jim Kelly, Newsweek editor Mark Whitaker, and to the careers of two who passed away in 2005, Hunter S. Thompson and Peter Jennings.

He gave the thumbs down to the new “DOA” Nightline, CNN’s dumping of Aaron Brown, the holiday timing of layoffs at Time Inc., Wikipedia, Bill O’Reilly, Judy Miller, and Time Warner Chairman Dick Parsons.
