Oh My God -- Did the Fox News Channel's PR Director Really Just Say This?

Media Orchard just received a nice e-mail from Charlie Reina, the former Fox News Channel producer who wrote a scathing letter regarding the "War on Christmas" campaign that was published on Romenesko today.
Charlie pointed out that Paul Schur, FNC's director of media relations, had responded to his charges with his own statement to Romenesko.
That's appropriate, Media Orchard figured. We were certain this seasoned PR practitioner would come up with an intelligent way to acknowledge Charlie's opinion while defusing the issue.
Then we read Paul's statement:
Charlie's rants about Fox News are both predictable and sad. For his sake, we hope he stops howling at the moon and moves on with his life. We wish him well in his current role making cabinets out of his garage.
Gracious, huh?
Update: Regarding the cabinet-making comment, Charlie gave us this background via e-mail --
Mostly, I make tables, bookcases, cabinets and other items of furniture. I'm self-taught and work slowly and meticulously And, yes, my workshop is in my garage.
For what it's worth, I became interested in woodworking in 1986, when I was a writer/segment producer at "Good Morning America." Norm Abram came on the show to promote his new PBS series, "The New Yankee Workshop," and I was lucky enough to get the assignment. Watching Norm make the Shaker candle stand that would become TNYW's first project hooked me on woodworking. There's no money in it for an amateur like me, but the work is rewarding -- both creative and honest -- which is more than you can say for a lot of jobs.

Not sure what's worse -- what Mr. Schur said, or the fact that it's exactly what one would expect from Fox News' PR guy.
BTW, wasn't Jesus a carpenter? Bet he made cabinets too, in which case Reina's cabinet crack might instead be a compliment.

Yes Gary, Jesus was a carpenter and how very astute to point out the irony of the Faux PR guy using that as an insult. I guess being an editor at Fox is a more respectable job than the one Jesus Christ had. Let's see, Jesus also said blessed are the meek. He said to help the poor and those who are weak. Why then are the Christian right supporting slashing programs for the poor? This sure isn't the Jesus Christ I learned about in Sunday school.
