Goodbye, Mr. Six

Yep, the Six Flags "spokesgeezer" apparently has been canned.
Well, at least now the bloggerati won't have to argue over whether he should have a "character blog" -- we're still debating over Jack in the Box and others.

I just wanna see the kindly geezer dance to loud thumping techno music, like Plastikman, Prodigy, or Cosmicity.
Was there are furor over whether he should blog or not?
How "fictional" is he? I mean, he is human, right? That automatically makes you somewhat non-fictional, I think.
Is that a young guy in an old man's fully body costume?

Most people assume it's a young guy in a costume inspired by Irving "Swifty" Lazar, the late Hollywood agent. But I believe Six Flags has always chosen to keep the Mr. Six identity a mystery. In any case, he's a fictional character with a real person inside!

Mascots like Mr. Six are just one rung above celebrity endorsements when it comes to bad branding ideas, I think. In order for them to work, they need to remember to never upstage the brand.
Mr. Six hogged the dancefloor and the spotlight. I'm glad Six Flags deep six'd him.
