The Fox News Channel Throughout American History

As a general rule, Media Orchard attempts to be as nonpartisan as possible, because we believe that labels like “Republican” and “Democrat,” “Red State” and “Blue State” are a lazy shorthard that often hinders reasoned discussion of important issues.

But because we’re history buffs, this Fox News Channel parody was just too funny not to post.

If it makes FNC loyalists feel any better, Media Orchard has criticized CNN using a similar approach in the past.

One Response to “The Fox News Channel Throughout American History”

  1. SB says:

I have been accused elsewhere on this blog of being a hypocrite on this post, since I obviously have “political leanings.”

The definition of “nonpartisan” is: “Based on, influenced by, affiliated with, or supporting the interests or policies of no single political party.”

By this definition, this blog and I are both nonpartisan. Nevertheless, I should not have used the phrase “as nonpartisan as possible,” because it suggests I try to be neutral, which is not the case. Or, if I have tried to be neutral, I’ve done a poor job of it.

I have political opinions, and I express them on this blog. I know that, over time, my opinions do add up to “leanings.”

What I should have said is this: Media Orchard attempts to avoid the simplistic political labeling of this blog. My ideas (like most people’s) have more shades than that.

I have opinions, I’m honest about them, but I like discussing ideas with people of all stripes.

I’m not an ideologue; I listen and change my mind on things all the time.
