Soon on Pay Per View: Pepper vs. Rubel!

Jeremy Pepper is feisty, isn't he? Phil Gomes, the original PR blogger, has affectionately labeled Jeremy "the Harlan Ellison of PR bloggers." As Isaac Asimov once said of Ellison: "Harlan uses his gifts for colorful and variegated invective on those who irritate him."
Based on Jeremy's highly annoyed description of Steve Rubel's behavior at BlogOn 2005, it sounds like Steve has a little piss-n-vinegar in him as well. Steve, of course, is the leading PR authority among bloggers, according to Technorati and just about any other quantifiable measure.
So anyway ... here's an idea:
A charity boxing match. That's right -- with all proceeds benefitting the NewPR Wiki. The winner would receive a blingy championship belt with "DOYEN" inscribed on the buckle. (Sorry, Phil.)
Thanks for keeping it fun, guys! I love the drama.

Oh, great... Now we have *another* PR guy making classic science fiction references on his blog.
Listen... *I* wear the pocket protector around *here*, mister!! *8-)
Just messing with you... I do think, though, that you now have the dubious distinction of being responsible for "First PR Blog Post Featuring Hot Babe."
Now... Why can't I get that chant from "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome" out of my head? ("Two men enter! One man leaves!")

Let's not confuse leading with loudest.

Phil: I'll look into whether Tina Turner is available to referee.
Usher: Thanks for your comment; it inspired a new post as you've seen.
Jeremy: Are you out there?? I was sure I was setting you up for a classic riposte.

Hey, I was in NY for BlogON, and then had to do my panel - the one Jarvis was waiting for with bated breath.
The Thrilla in Vanilla, huh? After meeting Rubel at the show, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be much of a contest. And, sorry, no one got the photo of the tepid handshake.
But, while the post may seem a little harsh, for someone at a small boutique to attack a woman who is a high-up VP running a large account at one of the larger agencies with a feeble and pathetic attempt at humor is crap. He should have apologized. Leader my ass - leaders don't act that way, just jesters who want to be leaders.

Jeremy: Forgot about your jet-setting schedule.
Thanks for pointing out the Jarvis post. I like his blog, but I think that post is naive BS of the Russell Beattie variety. I'm going to have to do a post on that later.
