Selecting a Public Relations Agency

An agency review should typically include at least three to five candidate firms. The Idea Grove recommends an initial meeting with each firm in which your requirements are discussed, followed by individual presentations by each firm.  During the review process, we suggest you use the following printable score sheet to rank agencies.  Fill out a sheet for each contending agency, and then compare scores to help you make your decision.  Some recommendations for assessing results:

A perfect score is 100 points; a score of 75 is a good match for your company.

Beware of a poor score in one of the four subcategories, even if the firm rates well overall.

If you answer “Not At All” on any question, the agency may be a poor fit.

If you answer “Not Sure” more than three times, learn more before making a decision.
